While upgrading the SmartSAN enablement kits from or to the HPE Synergy Custom SPP 2020.05.01 on any of the HPE Synergy Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters listed in the Scope section below, users may see error messages similar to the following: error: Failed dependencies: hpe-qlogic-smartsan-enablement-kit conflicts with (installed) hpe-qlogic-smartsan-sy-enablement-kit-3.3-3.x86_64 hpe-qlogic-smartsan-enablement-kit is obsoleted by (installed) hpe-qlogic-smartsan-sy-enablement-kit-3.3-3.x86_64 error: Failed dependencies: hpe-emulex-smartsan-enablement-kit conflicts with (installed) hpe-emulex-smartsan-sy-enablement-kit-1.0.0.0-4.x86_64 hpe-emulex-smartsan-enablement-kit is obsoleted by (installed) hpe-emulex-smartsan-sy-enablement-kit-1.0.0.0-4.x86_64 This occurs because the HPE Synergy Custom SPP 2020.05.01 includes components with a different name (hpe-<vendor>-smartsan-sy-...). As a result, the SPP cannot install/upgrade enablement kits if previously installed enablement kits with a different name are present.
This issue affects the following HPE Synergy Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters: HPE Synergy 3830C 16G Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter HPE Synergy 5830C 32Gb Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter HPE Synergy 5330C 32Gb Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter HPE Synergy 3530C 16Gb Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter
To avoid encountering this issue, do not install the SmartSAN components during an attempt to upgrade to the HPE Synergy Custom SPP 2020.05.01 release. If this issue is experienced with the components already installed from the HPE Synergy Custom SPP 2020.05.01 release, manually uninstall the previously installed SmartSAN enablement kit to address this issue.
