In extremely rare circumstances, when editing the "Advanced Settings" of the Host Bus Adapters (listed in the Scope section below) in the UEFI settings via the the HTML5 Remote Console Interface in HPE Integrated Lights-Out (iLO), the server may experience one of the following:
The server becomes unresponsive and must be rebooted
The server crashes and reboots twice, generating a UMCE + PCI Error
The server becomes unresponsive and generates a Red Screen of Death (RSOD) and needs to be rebooted
This issue does not affect a running system. It is only seen in the ROM-Based Setup Utility (RBSU) of the UEFI while the system is in the System Utilities > System Configuration > HPE (Adapter Name) > Advanced Settings menu.
Scope
Any HPE Gen10 ProLiant DL-series servers, Gen10 server blades, or Synergy Gen10 servers configured with a QMH2672 Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter (Option Kit 710608-B21), an SN1100Q1P HBA (Part Number P9D93A), an SN1100Q2P HBA (Part Number P9D94A), or Synergy 3830C HBA (Option Kit 777452-B21).
Resolution
As a workaround if this issue occurs, use the .NET Remote Console interface or the JAVA based console to configure the adapter settings via the iLO remote access
OR
System parameters may be edited by accessing the RBSU though a local keyboard and monitor.
