Info
When the server CPLD on an HPE ProLiant m750 server blade is updated, HPE Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) must perform an aux power reset of the server blade so that the new CPLD firmware can be activated.
However, a limitation of the server blade design prevents iLO from performing the necessary power-cycle of the server blade after a CPLD update, preventing activation of the new CPLD firmware. No functionality is disrupted but new firmware is not activated until a manual power-cycle occurs.
Scope
Any HPE ProLiant m750 Server Blade in a Moonshot 1500 chassis.
Resolution
Execute the following command manually from the CM2.0 CLI:
Note:Ensure that all working applications are saved and the server is powered off before using this command.
IMPORTANT: Failure to first power off the server before performing the above workaround will result in loss of data.
"reset auxpower bx" (where x is the server blade slot) or from the GUI after the CPLD is updated. This workaround relies on the CM2 to power-cycle the server blade, thus ensuring that the firmware is activated.
