IMPORTANT : The System ROM 2.30 upgrade provided in the Resolution is required to prevent unexpected reboot or cold boots from occurring and to address several software security vulnerabilities. HPE recommends performing this upgrade at the customer's earliest possible convenience. Neglecting to perform the recommended action and not performing the recommended resolution could result in the potential for subsequent errors to occur. Any of the following HPE Gen10 servers mentioned in the Scope section below with a System ROM older than version 2.30 and using Fast Fault Tolerant (ADDDC) Advanced Memory Protection Mode may experience an unexpected reboot or cold boot that results in errors being logged. When this occurs, the errors will fall under one of the following scenarios: Scenario 1: The Integrated Management Log will contain entries for Uncorrectable Machine Check Exceptions (UMCE) for Bank 7 or 8 with Status 0xB2000000'00200400. UMCE entry in IML will look similar to the below: Uncorrectable Machine Check Exception (Processor 1, APIC ID 0x00000000, Bank 0x00000008, Status 0xB2000000'00200400, Address 0x00000040'57A6F940, Misc 0x00080A45'37E00086). ACTION:Update the system firmware. If the issue persists, contact support. The above error may be accompanied by other UMCEs. Other observed UMCEs are: Bank 4 MSCOD 0x2E00: Uncorrectable Machine Check Exception (Processor 1, APIC ID 0x00000000, Bank 0x00000004, Status 0xBA000000'2E000402, Address 0x00000000'00000000, Misc 0x00000000'00000000). NOTE: All of the above scenarios may occur as a result of a known issue specific to Intel CPUs. The Bank 7 and Bank 8 UMCE in Scenario 1 above is the specific reference to this error. The IML entries in Scenario 2 or Scenario 3 do not contain entries for Bank 7 or Bank 8 UMCEs, but they may still be caused by the same known problem.
