HPE SAP HANA customers running ConvergedSystem 500 5.1 Scale-Up Appliances based on HPE ProLiant DL560 Gen10 systems with Intel Skylake Processors, or ConvergedSystem 900 4.x Scale-Up Appliances based on HPE Integrity Superdome X Gen 9 with Intel Broadwell Processors are encouraged to turn on kdump to assist in capturing critical operating system information for root cause analysis if an unexpected outage should ever occur.
Kdump was not installed at the factory by default for CS500 appliances (it is installed by default for CS900 appliances), so if an unexpected outage does occur on the system, it may be difficult to root cause any issues until kdump is installed and enabled, and a subsequent outage is experienced. More details are provided below.
