On HPE ProLiant Gen9 or Gen10 server configured with any of the network adapters listed in the Scope section below, with firmware combo image v7.17.71 (or prior); the network adapters may not report Physical Layer (PHY) increased temperatures on the devices to the server via iLO. When this occurs, the system does not provide adequate cooling for proper operation, resulting in error conditions in the Integrated Management Log (IML), possible link loss, or hardware failures. The following conditions may be experienced when this issue occurs: HPE ProLiant Gen10 servers configured with an HPE Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 530T Adapter The server may log one of the following Uncorrectable Machine Check Exception (UMCE) errors in the Integrated Management Log (IML) with PCI Express Errors logged after the associated UMCE indicating hardware failures of the device: Uncorrectable Machine Check Exception (Processor 1, APIC ID 0x00000000, Bank 0x00000006, Status 0xBB800000'00000E0B, Address 0x00000000'00000000, Misc 0x00000000'36000000). ACTION: Update the system firmware. If the issue persists, contact support. Uncorrectable PCI Express Error Detected. Slot x (Segment x, Bus xx, Device x, Function x). Uncorrectable Error Status: 0x4020 ACTION: Update the firmware of the failing device. If the issue persists, replace the device or Uncorrectable Machine Check Exception (Processor 1, APIC ID 0x00000000, Bank 0x00000006, Status 0xBB800000'00000E0B, Address 0x00000000'00000000, Misc 0x00000000'10000000). Or Server Critical Fault (Service Information: Runtime Fault, Flexible LOM, LOM 1 VRD (21h)) ACTION: Gather necessary information and create a support case using Active Health System Viewer (AHSV).Power Fault Detected - FlexLOM 1 ACTION: Unplug the server (or remove the server if a blade or SL-server) HPE ProLiant Gen10 servers configured with an HPE FlexFabric 10Gb 2-port 536FLR-T The server may shut down and log the following message in the Integrated Management Log (IML): "Critical Temperature Threshold Exceeded ACTION: Be sure the fan configuration meets the functional requirements of the server. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: If any hardware failure similar to the ones described in the Description section above is experienced on servers configured with an HPE Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 530T Adapter or HPE FlexFabric 10Gb 2-port 533FLR-T Adapter; proceed with the replacement of the affected network adapter before proceeding with the firmware upgrade . Upgrading the firmware on the replacement network adapter will prevent the recurrence of this error condition. For network adapters that are not currently in a failed state and/or reporting any of the Uncorrectable Machine Check Exception (UMCE), Uncorrectable PCI Express Error (PCIe Error), Server Critical fault, or Unrecoverable System Error (NMI) listed the Description section above, the firmware on the network adapter must be updated to combo image version 7.17.80 or 7.18.27 (or later) in order to prevent a hardware failure from occurring with the network adapter.
