In the scenario described above, the following Virtual Connect modules using an HPE Synergy 40GbE/4x10GbE/4x8Gb FC QSFP+ Transceiver (817040-B21):HPE Virtual Connect SE 100Gb F32 Module for SynergyHPE Virtual Connect SE 40Gb F8 Module for Synergy
This is an expected behavior as explained below. The HPE Synergy 40GbE/4x10GbE/4x8Gb FC QSFP+ Transceiver (817040-B21) is a FlexFabric transceiver that can operate as 4x10 Gb Ethernet or 4x8 Gb Fibre Channel. As such, the optical transmit power must be within the range of both Ethernet and Fibre Channel. This can result, occasionally, in an Ethernet mode transmit power of slightly greater than the Cisco Ethernet warning threshold of -1.00 dBm. Not every switch vendor will warn at this threshold, because the "Critical" threshold is much higher (+1.00 dBm).If, however, this warning is encountered when linking Virtual Connect ICMs to a Cisco Ethernet switch using this transceiver, customers can use one of the 40G QSFP+ to 4x10G SFP+ copper DAC or AOC options found in theHPE Virtual Connect SE 40GB F8 Module for HPE Synergy QuickspecsNote: Proactive replacement of the HPE Synergy 40GbE/4x10GbE/4x8Gb FC QSFP+ Transceiver is neither necessary nor authorized. Replacement will not change this behavior as the product is functioning as designed.RECEIVE PROACTIVE UPDATES: Receive support alerts (such as Customer Advisories), as well as updates on drivers, software, firmware, and customer replaceable components, proactively via e-mail through HPE Subscriber's Choice.
