Info
Certain versions of the HPE X120 1G SFP RJ45 T Transceivers (JD089B) are not supported and cannot be installed during the firmware upgrade on an HPE StoreFabric M-Series switch running firmware prior to ONYX 3.7.1200 due to a switch firmware issue.
The HPE X120 1G SFP RJ45 T Transceivers (JD089B) that includes “RTXL185-210” on the label are not supported because there is an issue with the firmware upgrade. This “RTXL185-210” version of the HPE X120 1G SFP RJ45 T Transceivers (JD089B) are supported by ONYX 3.7.1200 and later versions. Switches using ONYX 3.6.8200 with the “RTXL185-210” version of the HPE X120 1G SFP RJ45 T Transceivers (JD089B) should be upgraded to ONYX 3.7.1200.
Upgrading the switch running firmware previous to ONYX 3.7.1200 with the “RTXL185-210” version of the HPE X120 1G SFP RJ45 T Transceivers (JD089B) installed may result in a non-functional firmware image; and ONYX may fail and hang when started or may complete the boot process but will then randomly restart and become unresponsive to CLI and GUI operations.
Below is a snapshot of the impacted “RTXL185-210” version of the HPE X120 1G SFP RJ45 T Transceiver (JD089B).
Scope
The following HPE StoreFabric M-Series switches are affected by this issue:
HPE StoreFabric SN2010M Switch
HPE StoreFabric SN2100M Switch
HPE StoreFabric SN2410M Switch
HPE StoreFabric SN2410bM Switch
HPE StoreFabric SN2700M Switch
Resolution
Do not upgrade an M-series switch running firmware versions prior to ONYX 3.7.1200, with the “RTXL185-210” version of the HPE X120 1G SFP RJ45 T Transceivers (JD089B) installed.
If the “RTXL185-210” version of the HPE X120 1G SFP RJ45 T Transceivers (JD089B) are already installed, remove the transceivers from the switches before upgrading the firmware to ONYX 3.7.1200.
Once upgraded to ONYX 3.7.1200, the “RTXL185-210” version of the HPE X120 1G SFP RJ45 T Transceivers (JD089B) can be re-installed and remain installed during subsequent ONYX upgrades.
If the ONYX firmware becomes non-functional, contact HPE for assistance.
