On an HPE ProLiant server, after disabling and re-enabling the embedded LAN on Motherboard (LOM) in the ROM-Based Setup Utility (RBSU), the HPE Integrated Lights-Out 4 (iLO 4) web interface may display erroneous information on the System Information -> Network and Firmware tabs for the HPE Smart Storage Battery.
The Network tab may display similar to the following:
Adapter 1 - iLO
Adapter 2 - HPE Ethernet 1Gb 4-port 331i Adapter - NIC
Adapter 3 - HP Smart Storage Batt 96
The Firmware tab may display an incorrect second entry for the HPE Smart Storage Battery as follows:
Firmware Name Firmware Version Location
HP Smart Storage Batt 96 20.12.41 Embedded
HPE Smart Storage Battery 1 Firmware 1.0 Embedded
The erroneous information displayed in the iLO 4 web interface does not affect the operation or functionality of the HPE Smart Storage Battery or iLO 4 and can be safely ignored.
Scope
Any HPE ProLiant server with the HPE Smart Storage battery with iLO 4 firmware version 2.70 (or earlier).
Resolution
This issue is resolved in iLO 2.76 or later.
As a workaround, to clear the HPE Smart Storage Battery information, reset iLO 4. For example, click Reset on the Information ->Diagnostics page in the iLO web interface to reset iLO 4.
