On an HPE Cloudline CL2600 Gen10 or HPE Cloudline CL2800 Gen10 server, the hpilo driver for Linux will claim the hardware; however, the hpilo driver will not function as expected due to underlying hardware/firmware limitations.On Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.10, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.5, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.6, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 SP3, or SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15, during boot, a message similar to the following will be displayed in dmesg:[ 7.986656] hpilo 0000:01:00.2: Error mapping shared mem[ 7.986667] hpilo: probe of 0000:01:00.2 failed with error -12This indicates the hpilo driver for Linux failed to properly initialize and is disabled.
Any HPE Cloudline CL2600 Gen10 or HPE Cloudline CL2800 Gen10 server attempting to load the hpilo driver for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.10, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.5, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.6, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 SP3, or SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15.
The iLO hardware will not be supported on HPE Cloudline CL2600 Gen10 or HPE Cloudline CL2800 Gen10 servers. The hpilo driver has been updated to not claim the iLO on the affected platforms and the patch has been upstream to Linux kernel as 5.1-rc.HPE is working with Red Hat and SUSE to incorporate the updated hpilo driver into future versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server.To prevent Linux from attempting to claim the iLO hardware blacklist the hpilo driver by creating the following file:/etc/modprobe.d/hpilo.confThat contains a single line as follows:blacklist hpiloRECEIVE PROACTIVE UPDATES: Receive support alerts (such as Customer Advisories), as well as updates on drivers, software, firmware, and customer replaceable components, proactively via e-mail through HPE Subscriber's Choice.
