Original Document Release.
On an HPE Edgeline EL300 Converged Edge System, the host CPU embedded RS232 port does not function as expected under Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 kernel version 3.10.xx.
For example, when the embedded RS232 serial port is used for automation, the tasks may not function as expected.
This occurs because the interrupt cannot be triggered while the FIFO buffer user puts any character from the HOST CPU side.
This has only been observed on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 kernel version 3.10.xx and has not been observed using Linux kernel version 4.4.xx (or later).
Scope
Any HPE Edgeline EL300 Converged Edge System running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 kernel version 3.10.xx.
Resolution
The host CPU embedded RS232 port not functioning on an HPE Edgeline EL300 Converged Edge System has only been observed on with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 kernel version 3.10.xx.
