A profile error may occur when applying a server profile that uses the "Firmware only" option and the selected firmware baseline contains Mellanox firmware components. The error displayed will be similar to the following: Issue Firmware installation failed for following components cp037168.exe cp037179.exe on the server ILO-DL560G10D43U31. Resolution Retry the operation. If the problem persists, contact your authorized support representative with a support dump and the AHS logs collected from the iLO. The issue may occur in several scenarios, for instance: When using the base Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP), such as SPP 06.2018, 09.2018 or 11.2018, the Windows components used for Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) installation fails due to the known issue documented in Customer Advisory a00059904en_us , " HPE Mellanox Windows Firmware Smart Component - Network Adapter Firmware Update Does Not Complete Using Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) and Displays Exception Status under HPE Integrated Lights-Out 5 Webpage Installation Queue ". In this scenario, the firmware will not be updated: https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-a00059904en_us When using a custom SPP with the Mellanox Windows components removed, the Linux RPM will be used during the OneView firmware update, instead of the Windows components. This profile error will occur due to a mismatch in the firmware's naming convention that differs from what is used for Mellanox firmware vs. what is used in the SPP baseline. The Mellanox firmware naming convention uses the format of zz.yy.xx.xx and the components used in the SPP use the naming convention zz.yy.xxxx. Due to the naming convention difference, OneView will consider the firmware to not be updated and cause a profile error. In this scenario the firmware will be updated, but a profile error will still occur that is similar to the error example above, but with the Mellanox RPM components named. (This issue is related to the issue documented in the Customer Advisory a00042325en_us , " HPE ProLiant Gen10 Servers - Smart Update Manager Always Discovers Mellanox Network Adapter For Firmware Deployment When The iLO Interface Is Used Even If The Network Adapters Have The Latest Firmware ": https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.oid=null&docLocale=en_US&docId=emr_na-a00042325en_us .) The error message seen during the profile apply will be similar to the message below: Issue Firmware installation failed for following components firmware-hca-mellanox-vpi-eth-ib-1.0.6-1.1.x86_64.rpm firmware-nic-mellanox-ethernet-only-1.0.8-2.1.x86_64.rpm on the server ILO-DL560G10D43U31 Resolution Retry the operation. The difference in naming convention may also cause an alert message similar to the following: One or more firmware components are inconsistent with the specified firmware baseline .
Any HPE OneView 4.10.xx or later that manages any HPE Gen10 servers with HPE Integrated Lights-Out 5 (iLO 5).
This issue is corrected by upgrading to HPE Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) Version 2019.03.1 or later: http://h17007.www1.hpe.com/us/en/enterprise/servers/products/service_pack/spp/index.aspx Select one of the following workarounds: Use the "Managed Manually" option in the server profile for the firmware baseline and update the firmware outside of OneView. OR Create a custom SPP by removing the following Mellanox firmware packages and update the Mellanox firmware outside of OneView.
