When the HPE Integrated Lights-Out 4 (iLO 4) or iLO 5 time is propagated to host, there is no time zone checked or sent to the BIOS when setting the time. The time zone information is absent, which will also cause the BIOS Time Zone setting to reset to [UTC-00:00, Greenwich Mean Time, Dublin, London]
Propagate Network Time Protocol (NTP) time to host (non-server blades) or Propagate NTP or Onboard Administrator (OA) time to host (server blades) - determines whether the server time is synchronized with the iLO time during the first Power-On Self-Test (POST) after AC power is applied, a server blade is inserted or e-fused, or iLO 4 or iLO 5 is reset to the default settings. For HPE ProLiant server blades only: when Propagate NTP or OA Time to Host is enabled, and NTP is not configured or functional, the server time is synchronized with the Onboard Administrator time.
Scope
Any HPE system using iLO 4 or iLO 5 and the Propagate time feature in iLO.
Resolution
As a workaround, to avoid the BIOS Time Zone setting in ProLiant servers with iLO 5 from resetting, perform the following:
Set the "Time Format" in the "BIOS/Platform Configuration" to "Local Time"
Ensure that the "Time Zone" in the "BIOS/Platform Configuration" matches with the "Time Zone" configured in the iLO UI.
