HPE ProLiant Gen10 servers with HPE Integrated Lights-Out 5 (iLO 5) contain a System Recovery Set that is stored in the server's iLO Repository. In order to maintain proper Secure Start protection, a System Recovery Set is required to be created and stored in the iLO Repository. Only one System Recovery Set can exist at a time on a server. The System Recovery Set will include some or all of the following firmware depending on the server type: System ROM (BIOS) iLO 5 System Programmable Logic Device (CPLD) Innovation Engine Server Platform Services (SPS) For a short period of time, servers produced in the factory had the System Recovery Set created incorrectly. System Recovery Sets that were created incorrectly had the System Recovery Set flag set to "No" and the description was blank. Below are methods to determine if a server has an incorrectly created System Recovery Set. Note : If the System Recovery Set is incorrect, the server will not be able to have the firmware fixed/replaced automatically. The System Recovery Set Repair image is required to repair servers that have incorrectly created System Recovery Sets. Refer to the Resolution section for additional information. Using the iLO GUI To determine if the server has an incorrectly created System Recovery Set, login to the server's iLO GUI. Select the "Firmware& OS Software" from the list of the left side of the screen. Then select "Install Sets" from the list on the top of the screen. Click on the install set called "System Recovery Set." This will display a pop-up window that displays the details of this install set. If the System Recovery Set on this server was created incorrectly, the Description field will be blank and the System Recovery Set will be set to "No". Below is a screenshot of an incorrectly created System Recovery Set: Using the RESTful Interface Tool (iLOrest) If not installed, download and install the RESTful Interface Tool (iLOrest). The tool can be downloaded here: https://www.hpe.com/info/resttool For more information on using the RESTful Interface Tool (iLOrest), see the User Guide here: https://hewlettpackard.github.io/python-redfish-utility/ Windows and Linux versions of the tool are available. The tool may also be installed on a client and run remotely to a server which has a network connection to the iLO network port. Start a command prompt or shell on the system running iLOrest. Run the following command: Local ilorest get isrecovery --selector=hpecomponetinstallset.--filter Name=System Recovery Set" --logout Remote ilorest get isrecovery --selector=hpecomponetinstallset. --filter "Name=System Recovery Set" --url= xx.xx.xx.xx -u username -p password --logout where: xx.xx.xx.xx = iLO IP/Hostname username = iLO account username password = iLO account password The RESTful Interface Tool (iLOrest) will display the status of the "IsRecovery" flag to the screen (stdout). IsRecovery=True If the tool displays that the IsRecovery flag is set to True, the System Recovery Set was created correctly and no further action is required for this server. IsRecovery=False If the tool displays that the IsRecovery flag is set to False, the System Recovery Set was created incorrectly, follow the steps in the Resolution section.
