On HPE Synergy platforms using HPE Virtual Connect SE 40Gb F8 Modules or HPE Synergy 40Gb F8 Switch Modules with unused interconnect link ports, a critical, locked alert stating "Invalid interconnect link topology" may appear intermittently in the Synergy Composer. Simultaneously, other alerts will appear, similar to "Interconnect port L3 has failed to read cable": Note: The L-port/ports specified in the alert will be unused in the current interconnect link topology (no cable installed). Therefore, these alerts do not represent an actual issue. No interconnect link cables will need to be replaced.
Any HPE Synergy platform using HPE Virtual Connect SE 40Gb F8 Modules or HPE Synergy 40Gb F8 Switch Modules with unused interconnect link ports.
To resolve this issue and prevent the erroneous interconnect link topology alert, update the firmware on the HPE Virtual Connect SE 40Gb F8 Module and the HPE Synergy 40Gb F8 Switch Module to version 1.3.1-1003 (or later). Firmware 1.3.1-1003 for the HPE Virtual Connect SE 40Gb F8 Module is available through the HPE Synergy Custom SPP 2018.09.20180919 at https://h20392.www2.hpe.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=synergy_rs_00.00 . Firmware 1.3.1-1003 for the HPE Synergy 40Gb F8 Switch Module is available at the HPE Support Center following the steps below: 1. Click the following link: https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/home 2. Enter a product name (e.g., "Synergy 40Gb F8 Switch Module") in the text search field and wait for a list of products to populate. From the products displayed, identify the desired product and click on the Drivers & software icon to the right of the product. 3. From the Drivers & software dropdown menus on the left side of the page: a. Select the Software Type - (Firmware) b. Select the Software Sub Type - (Switch) 4. Select the latest release of * RECOMMENDED * HPE Synergy 40Gb F8 Switch Module Firmware Package version 1.3.1-1003 (or later ). Note: To ensure the latest version will be downloaded, click on the Revision History tab to check if a new version of the firmware is available. 5. Click Download. As a workaround if the update will be performed at a later time, clear the alert by restarting the Synergy Composer. Alternatively, the alert may be cleared by inserting a spare interconnect link cable into one of the unused interconnect link ports specified in the alert, waiting a few seconds, and then removing it.
