IMPORTANT: The Solid State Drive (SSD) firmware upgrade described below is considered a critical fix and is required to prevent the following issue. HPE strongly recommends immediate application of this critical fix. Neglecting to perform the required action could potentially result in SSD unresponsiveness. By disregarding this notification and not performing the recommended resolution, the customer accepts the risk of incurring future related errors. Recently, HPE has learned that the Solid State Drive (SSD) SKUs listed below are experiencing a firmware quality issue that may result in a higher-than-normal run-time failure rate. When a run-time failure occurs, the drive will become unrecoverable, even after a power-cycle. Though data integrity is not directly affected by this issue, any drive failure in a non-fault tolerant configuration may result in data loss. Therefore, HPE recommends that customers incorporate fault tolerance into their production environments.

To prevent this issue from occurring, upgrade the firmware on the above SSD drive models to SSD firmware version HPG3(B). Improves drive reliability by including the latest firmware maintenance updates. After HPG3 firmware is downloaded to the drive, the new HPG3 firmware will be active on the drive. The new drive bootloader code will be activated after the next drive power cycle. NOTE: Products sold prior to the November 1, 2015 separation of Hewlett-Packard Company into Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company and HP Inc. may have older product names and model numbers that differ from current models.
