Document Version Release Date Details 2 7 October 2019 Inserted the fourth paragraph in the Description section 1 5 March 2018 Original Document Release HPE recommends updating all drive models beginning with "HCBF" to drive firmware 3P05 or later for increased drive reliability. HCBF drive models can be installed in HPE 3PAR StoreServ 7000, 8000, 10000, and 20000 Storage systems. The following CLI command may be used to identify if the system has these drives and the corresponding drive firmware version: cli% showpd -i -p -devid HCBF0600S5xeN010,HCBF1200S5xeN010,HCBF1800S5xeN010,HCBF1200S5xeF010 If HCBF drive models are installed in the system and not running firmware 3P05 or later, plan the appropriate HPE 3PAR OS update (which may include HPE 3PAR OS updates and/or patch installations) to install 3P05 drive firmware, per Table 1. HPE 3PAR Storage systems with HCBF drives installed should be configured to call home to take advantage of the HPE 3PAR advanced analytics that monitor and proactively initiate HCBF drive replacement before they fail. HPE urges customers to refer to the relevant update and release note documentation and to carefully review the dependencies of various host environments provided in the information library. This advisory applies to all HPE 3PAR StoreServ 7000, 8000, 10000, and 20000 systems with one or more of the HCBF drive models installed in the array.
Ensure all HCBF HDDs in HPE 3PAR StoreServ 7000, 8000, 10000, and 20000 systems are installed with drive firmware version 3P05 or later, as detailed in the Description section of this advisory.
