Original Document Release.
Updating the firmware of a Virtual Connect SE 40Gb F8 Module for Synergy may fail when running Synergy Composer version 4.00.05 if the Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) tagging is set to "enabled."
If LLDP tagging is enabled, it causes an "unexpected configuration event," which causes the Interconnect Module (ICM) to power-cycle as the firmware update is in progress.
Scope
Any HPE Virtual Connect SE 40Gb F8 Module for Synergy.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, upgrade the HPE Synergy Composer firmware to version 4.00.07. Version 4.00.07 is available through HPE Synergy Software Release Sets and can be downloaded at
www.hpe.com/downloads/synergy
.
As a workaround if the update to 4.00.07 is going to be performed at a later time, disable the LLDP tagging immediately prior to upgrading the module, which will allow the upgrade to complete without error. Once the update completes, re-enable the LLDP tagging.
NOTE: Products sold prior to the separation of Hewlett-Packard Company into Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company and HP Inc. on November 1, 2015 may have a product name and model number that differ from current models.
