Document VersionRelease DateDetails209/04/2018Updated Resolution with permanent fix, updated version of the IEXGBE driver.112/19/2017Original Document Release. On systems running HP-UX 11i v3, after updating to the OE1705 /OE1805, performance degradation may occur on some systems using the 10GigEthr-02 (iexgbe) 10 Gigabit Ethernet Driver for HP-UX. For example, a slow ping response and other symptoms may be observed. This is because OE1705/OE1805 includes B.11.31.1705 version of IEXGBE driver, that was fixed by B.11.31.1705.01 (and later). If the network adapter is used for a heartbeat LAN of Service Guard cluster/Veritas CFS/Oracle CRS, the node may be marked as "unhealthy."Systems with a less number of processors that run network-intensive applications are more likely to experience this performance issue. With additional processors, more processors may be able to run application processes while other processors are processing the IEXGBE driver requests.Systems that have network interfaces that are based on other driver(s); for example, IOCXGBE, are not affected.
Any system running HP-UX 11i with the following interfaces using the IEXGBE driver:LOM (LAN on Motherboard) on Integrity i2-series server blades and HPE Integrity Superdome 2NC532m mezzanine card for Integrity i2/i4/i6-series server bladesHPE Integrity PCIe 2-port 10GbE-SR Fabric Adapter (AM225A)HPE Integrity PCIe 2-port 10GbE-LR Fabric Adapter (AM232A)HPE Integrity PCIe 2-port 10GbE-CR Copper Adapter (AM233A)Run the nwmgr command to determine if the above network adapters are installed in the system. If interfaces with the IEXGBE driver are installed, entries similar to the following will be displayed:lan8 UP 0xA00000000001 iexgbe 10GBASE-KR: :To determine the version of IEXGBE driver, type the following command:# swlist -l product|grep -i iexgbeIEXGBE-DRV B.11.31.1705 HP PCIe 10GigEthr DriverIf iexgbe is not displayed, the system is not affected.
To avoid performance degradation, install IEXGBE version B.11.31.1705.01 or B.11.31.1806 (or later). The following URL provides IEXGBE version B.11.31.1806 as of August 2018.https://h20392.www2.hpe.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=10GigEthr-02NOTE:Products sold prior to the November 1, 2015 separation of Hewlett-Packard Company into Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company and HP Inc. may have older product names and model numbers that differ from current models.RECEIVE PROACTIVE UPDATES: Receive support alerts (such as Customer Advisories), as well as updates on drivers, software, firmware, and customer replaceable components, proactively via e-mail through HPE Subscriber's Choice.
