Intermittent server unresponsiveness may occur on HPE Systems running Linux and configured with Qlogic or Emulex fiber channel controllers, when running the HP SNMP Agents for Linux (hp-snmp-agents) version 10.6.0 (or earlier) and the associated fibre channel enablement software. This occurs if the SCSI subsystem encounters an issue and attempts to perform an error recovery sequence while outstanding I/O operations are not complete.
Any HPE system running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11, or SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 and running the hp-snmp-agents version 10.6.0 (or earlier) in conjunction with the following: any Qlogic fibre channel host bus adapter with attached storage any Emulex fibre channel host bus adapter with attached storage AND One of the following fibre channel enablement software kits: HP-CNA-FC-Emulex-Enablement-Kit (versions prior to 10.7.300.3-1) HP-CNA-FC-hpqlgc-Enablement-Kit (versions prior to 6.0.0.0-4)
To avoid the server unresponsiveness, upgrade the hp-snmp-agents and the fibre channel enablement software as follows: hp-snmp-agents version 10.6.2 HP-CNA-FC-Emulex-Enablement-Kit-10.7.300.3-1 HP-CNA-FC-hpqlgc-Enablement-Kit-6.0.0.0-4 NOTE: This is resolved only when BOTH the hp-snmp-agents AND the FC-Enablement kits have been updated to the specified fixed versions listed above. The hp-snmp-agents version 10.6.2 are available as follows: Click the following link: https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/home Enter a product name (e.g., "DL380 Gen9") in the text search field and wait for a list of products to populate. From the products displayed, identify the desired product and click on the Drivers & software icon to the right of the product. From the Drivers & software dropdown menus on the left side of the page: Select the Software Type - (e.g. Software) Select the Software Sub Type - (e.g. System Management) For further filtering if needed - Select the specific Operating System from the Operating Environment. Select the latest release of the hp-snmp-agents version 10.6.2 (or later). NOTE: To ensure the latest version will be downloaded, click on the Revision History tab to check if a new version of the firmware/driver is available. Click Download .
