Document Version Release Date Details 2 10/31/2017 List of Supported Adapters has been updated. 1 10/25/2017 Original Document Release. On any HPE ProLiant Gen10 server configured with any of the network adapters listed in the Scope section below, these network adapters are not supported by the native drivers (igbn and i40en) in the VMware ESXi 6.5 custom image. As a result, VMware ESXi 6.5 is not able to be installed if there are only unsupported adapters in the server. In the VMware ESXi installation process, the available network adapters cannot be found; therefore, the installation is aborted:

As workaround: Install the VMware ESXi 6.5 U1 Operating System via the HPE custom image for ESXi 6.5 U1. To download HPE custom image for ESXi 6.5 U1, refer to the ESXi Image for HPE ProLiant page: https://www.hpe.com/us/en/servers/hpe-esxi.html Or Use an adapter that is supported by the server while installing the VMware ESXi 6.5 Operating System.
