IMPORTANT : This HPG6 firmware is considered a critical fix and is required to address the issue detailed below. HPE strongly recommends immediate application of this critical fix. Neglecting to perform the required action could leave the server in an unstable condition, which could potentially result in sub-optimal server performance or data loss. By disregarding this notification and not performing the recommended resolution, the customer accepts the risk of incurring future related errors. Certain HPE SATA-based Solid State Drives (SSD) or M.2 Series Drives running with drive firmware HPG4 (or earlier), may be affected by a potential data integrity issue, after long periods of system inactivity or low power state conditions. During the conditions mentioned, the drive's error correction capability may be compromised due to excessive reallocation of NAND Blocks (Grown Bad Blocks), resulting in potential Unrecoverable Read Errors (UREs) or drive SMART trips. For more details, please refer to the drive firmware Release Notes for the version with this fix listed in the Resolution section.

HPE has released firmware version HPG6, which corrects the anomaly described above. Use the criteria available in table above (special attention to the bolded columns) to confirm if the SATA SSD or M.2 drive being used is potentially exposed to this issue. If the SATA SSD or M.2 drive matches the criteria provided, upgrade immediately the drive firmware to HPG6 using the download link below depending on the operating system installed: VMware: https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/home/result?driverId=MTX-7db65beb3f9b4d319abde086dc&qt=VK000480GWEZC Windows: https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/home/result?driverId=MTX-8c72c49742db44f68756d7a67d&qt=VK000480GWEZC Linux: https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/home/result?driverId=MTX-45068b4ae26c48ffae5ca3fc86&qt=VK000480GWEZC Release Notes Firmware improves a NAND threshold level to strengthen differentiation of NAND states to mitigate excessive reallocation of NAND Blocks (Grown Bad Blocks).
