On the product HPOvPerf (HPE Performance) 12.00 through 12.02 bundled in HP-UX 11i v3 Virtualization Server OE (VSE-OE), High Availability OE (HA-OE), or HP-UX 11i v3 Data Center OE (DC-OE), during the startup of oacore, incorrect device files could be created that can conflict with other drivers on the system and may cause system panics or other erroneous behaviors. For example, a typical erroneous behavior is a system panic in Logical Volume Manager (LVM) 1.0 or 2.x drivers with the respective panic strings below: panic: lv_open fmt panic: lvmp_open fmt
Any HP-UX 11i v3 Virtualization Server OE (VSE-OE), High Availability OE (HA-OE), or HP-UX 11i v3 Data Center OE (DC-OE) system using the oacore daemon from 1603 OE (bundling HPOvPerf 12.00) and 1705 OE (bundling HPOvPerf 12.02). Note : The issue affects the concerned versions of the HPOvPerf product bundled with standalone licensed software products, such as Glanceplus-Pak and other Operations Managements software.
To avoid the LVM panics due to the oacore issue, LVM 1705 has been released to report an error instead of triggering a system panic. The LVM 1705 release is bundled with HP-UX 1705 OE or is available at the following URL: https://h20392.www2.hpe.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=BaseLVM The fix to GlancePlus/UX Pak is released with Operations Agent v12.10 (TC097O) bundled in HP-UX 11i v3 1905 OE Update Release. Note : This version of Operations Agent only does not support PA platform. Micro Focus Operations Agent 12.05, the latest version of OA supported on PA-RISC processors, will be made available to HPE customers (with HPE Passport accounts) through HPESC Patch Management.
