On any HPE ProLiant server configured with any of the Intel 1Gb network adapters listed in the Scope section below, with any firmware versions prior to the firmware versions included in the Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) 2017.04.0, an error message indicating that "the firmware update failed" may be displayed when the Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) 2017.07.1 (or any of the firmware components that are packaged in it) is used to perform a firmware update. For example, on an HP Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 361i Adapter with a firmware prior to 0x80000CD5(EEPROM version)/1.1446.0(OROM version), when the firmware update is performed via the Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) 2017.07.1 (or using one of the firmware components that are packaged in it) , the error message described above is displayed.

To resolve this issue, perform the following steps: Update the firmware on the affected network adapters using the Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) 2017.04.0 available at the following URL: www.hpe.com/info/spp Download and update the network adapter firmware using the components of the Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) 2017.07.1 listed in the scope section above.
