The Integrated Lights-Out 5 (iLO 5) Service Port is a USB port with the label "iLO" on the front of HPE ProLiant Gen10 servers and HPE Synergy Gen10 compute modules. With physical access to the server, the iLO Service Port can be used to connect a client (such as a laptop) with a supported USB to Ethernet adapter to access the iLO 5 web interface, remote console, CLI, iLO RESTful API, or scripts. Prerequisites The iLO Service Port and USB Ethernet adapters options are enabled. The client network adapter is configured to support the Service Port feature. Physical access to the server. Procedure Use a supported USB to Ethernet adapter to connect a client to the iLO Service Port (the USB port labeled "iLO," on the front of the server). The client network adapter is assigned a link-local address. This process may take several seconds. Connect to iLO 5 through a browser, remote console, the CLI, or a scripting utility by using the following IPv4 address: 169.254.1.2. The same IP address is used to connect a client to any server through the iLO Service Port. The address cannot be changed. On an iLO 5 Remote Console session connected to iLO 5 via the iLO 5 Service Port, the Share Option may not function with another client that is connected via the iLO 5 dedicated port or the iLO 5 shared network port unless they are both configured to communicate with the 169.254 subnet used by the iLO 5 Service Port. This is expected behavior and does not indicate faulty hardware or firmware. The sharing option may require each client to be able to communicate via their network connections.
Any HPE ProLiant Gen10-series server using the iLO 5 Service Port.
To ensure that a secondary remote console client can share video with the primary remote console client, perform the following: Connect to iLO from a network that can communicate directly with the network used by the primary remote console client. The remote console supports sharing by forwarding video directly from the primary remote console client to the secondary remote console client, which is why both clients have to have direct communication with each other. This is a known network limitation and is expected behavior.
