Document Version Release Date Details 2 10/09/2017 Updated Resolution section with permanent fix, MCP 2017.08.0 1 05/23/2017 Original document release After disabling the Integrated Lights-Out 4 (iLO 4) embedded video in the ROM-Based Setup Utility (RBSU) on an HPE ProLiant m710x Server Cartridge, the iLO Integrated Remote Console will stop displaying video after a certain initialization step. When this occurs, the RBSU cannot be accessed; therefore, re-enabling the iLO embedded video requires using the RESTful API.
Any HPE ProLiant m710x Server Cartridge.
The System ROM dated 07/17/2017 will resolve this issue. This fix allows that even after disabling the iLO embedded video, the user will still be able to use the VSP to access the RBSU. The System ROM is available in the Moonshot Component Pack Version 2017.08.0: https://h20566.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=MTX_9fb1157f4145493dac79c8ceae Re-enable the iLO embedded video using the RESTful API to change the settings remotely. To access iLO 4 on the individual HPE ProLiant m710x Server Cartridge, refer to the Managing Hewlett Packard Enterprise Servers Using the RESTful API Guide , located at the following URL: http://h20564.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c04423967 Note: To access iLO 4 on an HPE ProLiant m710x Server Cartridge inside a HPE Moonshot 1500 Chassis, use the chassis manager IP and the port 735+slot number. For example, to access cartridge 15 of the chassis 192.168.0.1, use 192.168.0.1:750. Perform the following: Access the iLO 4 graphics settings located under {ilo-address}/rest/v1/Systems/1/BIOS/Settings. Change the setting to enable iLO 4 video by making a PATCH call to the address above and change the "VideoOptions" option from "OptionalVideoOnly" to "BothVideoEnabled." Re-boot the cartridge. The video will be displayed on the iLO Integrated Remote Console screen. For example, a Windows application called Postman can be used to make the RESTful API calls, select PATCH and input my {ilo4-address}/rest/v1/System/1/BIOS/Settings as the address. In the "Headers" section included "Authorization" and "Content-Type", the authorization value is the encoded value of the iLO 4 login, and the Content-Type value is application/json, that is the format of the message body. In the message body, type {"VideoOptions": "BothVideoEnabled"}, send the request and the message received back is as follows: "Messages": [ { "MessageID": "iLO.0.10.SystemResetRequired" } The above message indicates the settings will be changed on the next reset.
