Symptoms

The following error is seen during the license installation after the utility node has been replaced. ERROR: avmaint: license: server_exception(MSG_ERR_NOTSTARTED)

Cause

The ascd service is down on the utility node of the Avamar Server. 

Resolution

Perform the below steps: Login to the Avamar utility node as admin userVerify status of the ascd service is running ps -ef |grep ascd |grep -v "grep"Note: The command will not produce any output if the ascd service is down. If the command returns an output showing that the service is running, please stop using this solution.
