Short-Term Workaround If any of the affected hotfixes (KB5120998, KB5124008, or KB5129195) are already installed, uninstall the update and then temporarily disable Windows Update to prevent automatic reinstallation until a permanent fix is available. Troubleshooting Steps : Open Settings → Windows Update → Update History → Uninstall updates . If present, uninstall one of the affected updates: KB5120998 KB5124008 KB5129195 After the update has been successfully uninstalled, navigate to Settings → Windows Update → Pause updates . Select the latest available pause date from the drop-down menu. For example, if the last available date is October 22 , select October 22. Windows Update will remain paused until the selected date (for example, October 22), preventing the affected update from being automatically reinstalled during that period.
