A migration was done from Microsoft Exchange 2010 to Microsoft Office 365. After updating the Avamar console and the mcserver.xml file with the new Microsoft Office 365 Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) host address, the CallHome feature fails: root:/opt/connectemc/logs/#: tail -f /opt/connectemc/logs/ConnectEMCEmail.log IPV4 SMTP Port: 25 MIMEType: application/zip Attaching: /opt/connectemc/poll/RSC_1418996159-005056822457_092717_124508000.xml.gzip.b64 Body's ContentType: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed Body's Text: This is the body of the email IPV4 connect(smtp.office365.com) failed with error 110. When performing a telnet with the command below: telnet <smtp office365> 25 EHLO MAIL FROM: < avamar_user_configurated@xxxx.com> This error message appears: 530 5.7.57 SMTP; Client was not authenticated to send anon... mail during MAIL FROM [xxxxxx.xxxx.PROD.OUTLOOK.COM]
The SMTP relay lets Microsoft Office 365 relay email on your behalf by using your public IP address (or a certificate) to authenticate Microsoft Office 365. This requires setting up a connector for a Microsoft Office 365 account.
Set up SMTP Relay on Microsoft Office 365 In Microsoft Office 365, click Admin , then click Exchange to arrive on the Exchange Admin Center. Click mail flow , and then click connectors : Use the " + " to start the wizard to create a new connector: - From = <your organization's email server> - To = Office 365 - Enter a name for SMTP Relay - Verify that the sending server's IP address matches one of your organizations Avamar Utility Node configured on the customer site. The IP address should match the public IP address of the location sending the email. Click save to create the connector. Test the telnet command again: telnet <smtp office365> 25 EHLO MAIL FROM: <avamar_user_configurated@xxxx.com> It returns: 250 2.1.0 Sender OK Avamar CallHome and EmailHome are now working.
