Memory False-positive DIMM error events may occur which are solved in BIOS 2.5.4 and later
For Intel based 16G PowerEdge Servers: these events are nothing but background noise that can be removed by disabling c-state in system setup , or by following the upgrade recommendations below for all PowerEdge Models: Note: There is no need to replace the DIMM unless these uncorrectable DIMM events continue after installing BIOS 2.5.4 or higher, post-reboot. Dell highly recommends a full RCM\IC upgrade to latest and greatest RCM\IC, if an upgrade is not feasible, the Single Component Upgrade (SCU) feature can be utilized with RPQ approval to update the BIOS version for changes out of the RCM or IC compatibility matrix. Scenario 1: MEM7114 with Extended ID 0x4E41 MEM7114 with extended ID 0x4E41 is replaced by MEM6104 in the newer BIOS. After Update to Bios 2.5.4 MEM7114 ID 0x4E41 will be replaced by MEM6104 which will recommend doing cold reboot Recommend Action: Perform a cold reboot to allow Self-Heal. (Most likely cold reboot solves the problem with no HW replacement needed) Caution: The impacted SDS node must be put into Maintenance Mode (MM) before doing cold reboot, Exit MM Mode once node is up and running See PowerFlex: How to Reboot a PowerFlex Node Update Bios to 2.5.4 or latest Scenario 2: MEM7114 with Extended ID 0x4E42 MEM7114 with extended ID 0x4e42 is triggered by an ongoing HW problem that most likely can be solved by BIOS Update to 2.5.4 Recommended Action: Update BIOS to 2.5.4 or latest Replace DIMM if the error persists after upgrade See PowerFlex: How to Reboot a PowerFlex Node Fixed In Version PowerFlex RCM 3.7.8.2 and 3.8.3.2 PowerFlex IC 48.387.02 and 48.383.02
