The laptop may show a distorted or black screen when running benchmark tests or closing a game. The issue occurs when the laptop has an OLED panel and the Dynamic Display Switch (DDS) is selected. DDS can be selected by going to NVIDIA Control Panel, 3D settings , Manage Display mode , and selecting Automatic Select . Affected Platform: Alienware 16X Aurora AC16251
When the computer switches from using the dedicated graphics card (dGPU) to the integrated graphics card (iGPU), an important setting called SwPsr flag gets lost. This can cause the screen to turn black or distorted.
Use the following methods to recover from the video issue before applying the solution: Close the lid of the laptop and then open the lid again. Press Ctrl + Shift + Win + B keys to reset the graphics driver. Press the power button once to turn the screen off, then press the power button again to turn the screen on. Note: Before starting the update, perform the following: Back up all personal data. For more information, refer to Back Up and Recovery . Connect the AC adapter. Updating the BIOS to version 2.1.2 or later, and Intel Graphics Driver version 32.0.101.8509 or later on the computer resolves the issue.
