Symptoms

Cause

The PostgreSQL service is active (running) but in a disabled state.You can confirm this state by running the following command and checking that the service shows Loaded: loaded (...; disabled; ...) while still Active: active (running): # systemctl status postgresql ● postgresql.service - PostgreSQL database server Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/postgresql.service; disabled; vendor preset: disabled) Drop-In: /etc/systemd/system/postgresql.service.d └─indexengines.conf Active: active (running) since Tue 2025-10-07 03:41:32 EDT; 4 months 27 days ago Main PID: 1817 (postgres) Tasks: 18 CGroup: /system.slice/postgresql.service

Resolution

Run the following command to enable the PostgreSQL service: systemctl enable postgresql Repeat the backup operation.
