The health-check 'rp4vm' only points out the existence of the vCenter (VC) RecoverPoint plug-in. This is a reminder to the person performing the upgrade, to ensure version RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines (VM), is supported at the new code. Test Result Result code Result Interpretation Pass 0 No Recover-Point is present, or the test profile used does not warn for RecoverPoint Warning 1 RecoverPoint is installed. Therefore, the RecoverPoint upgrade procedures should be followed Failure 2 This indicates that the target level of code does not support RecoverPoint or vLCM is also enabled with RecoverPoint Critical 3 This test has no critical result. Each test that passes is not listed in the summary report, for ease of reading. If the health-checks are run with a core test profile (see article 21527) , then the presence of RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines is instead listed in vxtii.txt. The Shell output (if VxVerify is not run in Silent mode), shows RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines. E.g.:Int/Ext Stretch VCF RP4VM ... Internal No No Yes ... An example of the health-check output, when RecoverPoint is present, is shown below: #========================#======#=========#====================================================================#==============# | Hostname / Category |Status Dell_KB | Warnings or Failures, unless tests Passed ; Product S.N. | #========================#======#=========#====================================================================#==============# | VxRM | Warning 42295 | rp4vm: RecoverPoint Extension is present .|
This test looks to see whether RecoverPoint is listed in the response from a vCenter API Extension Manager query. An extension for RecoverPoint is listed as: com.dell.recoverpoint
This test looks to see whether RecoverPoint is listed in the response from a vCenter Extension Manager query. An extension for RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines would be listed as: com.dell.recoverpoint. In the event that this test comes back positive (i.e. RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines is present), and/or VxTii shows 'Yes' for RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines, then 'RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines' must be upgraded prior to upgrading VxRail to prevent Disaster Recovery Unavailability on the VxRail Cluster. See https://solve.dell.com : RecoverPoint -> RecoverPoint for VMs -> Upgrade Important: Consult the VxRail Simple Support Matrix for the latest supported releases of VxRail with RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines (VMs). Refer to the Dell Support site for the latest VxRail Release Notes, for the latest VxRail RecoverPoint for VMs information: https://www.dell.com/support/home/product-support/product/vxrail-appliance-series/docs (Manuals and Documents) RecoverPoint for VMs upgrades are typically executed by a customer, however, if assistance is required, contact their account manager to engage Dell EMC Professional Service Team for help in the RecoverPoint for VMs upgrade task. Important Update RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines does not support vSphere 8.0.0x0 and 8.0.1xx. Do NOT upgrade to a VxRail 8.0 release below 8.0.210 if RecoverPoint for Virtual Machi nes is installed. Additional information for RecoverPoint can be found in the Recoverpoint for VM Simple Support Matrix (Login Required) and the VxRail Simple Support Matrix (Login Required) Important Update 3/23/22 : VxRail 7.0.3xx code is now compatible with RecoverPoint 5.3.2.3 release. See KB 000193526 ( DellEMC VxRail: VxRail 7.0.30x and RecoverPoint for VMs compatibility ) for further details. If the RecoverPoint test fails due to vLCM is also enabled with Recoverpoint: Important Update 9/2/22 : A compatibility issue between RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines (all releases) and vLCM has been discovered see KB 000203010 ( RecoverPoint for VMs: Supportability of VMware vLCM (VMware vSphere Life Cycle Manager) ). Please engage VxRail Support to carry out workaround documented in KB 000202845 Dell EMC VxRail: After host remediation completed, compliance check reported host as 'non-compliant'. The image on the host does not match the image set for the cluster. Retry the cluster remediation operation. No resolution for the provided vCenter. to workaround the issue.
