Symptoms

Browsing directories on downloads.dell.com are no longer working as user is presented with an Error 403 Forbidden: Access is denied message. Some commonly used directories that are impacted include: https://downloads.dell.com/catalog https://downloads.dell.com/openmanage_enterprise https://downloads.dell.com/omimswac/ic/ https://downloads.dell.com/omimswac/dsu/ This does not impact directly downloading files if the file URL is known, and online operations (Catalog Management, Firmware Compliance, and Console Updates) within consoles such as OpenManage Enterprise.

Cause

Recent security changes have removed directory traversal from the downloads.dell.com website. 

Resolution

Dell IT has reverted the changes for 90 days. Impacted programs are looking to provide other options for accessing files from downloads.dell.com. Current impact is: Manually downloading files from downloads.dell.com/catalog Manually downloading OpenManage Enterprise upgrade files for offline installation using downloads.dell.com/openmanage_enterprise. Manually downloading Inventory Collector and Dell Server Update utilities for OpenManage Integrations for Windows Admin Center
