The power button on the Dell laptop may become non‑functional after the device boots into Windows. Affected Platforms: Dell 15 DC15255 Dell Pro 15 Essential PV15255 Inspiron 15 3535 Vostro 14 3435 Vostro 15 3535 This behavior is typically observed after updating the BIOS to one of the following versions: BIOS 1.4.0 (Dell Pro 15 Essential PV15255) BIOS 1.5.0 (DELL 15 DC15255) BIOS 1.26.0 (Inspiron 15 3535, Vostro 14 3535, Vostro 15 3535) Symptom Details: Boot to Power Option of Control Panel, set When I Press the Power button to either sleep, hibernate, or shut down. Pressing the power button attempt to enter sleep, hibernate, or shut down, but there is no response.
This is caused by the BIOS issue.
Note: Before starting the update, perform the following: Back up all personal data. For more information, refer to Back Up and Recovery . Connect the AC adapter. Updating the BIOS to the following versions on the computer resolves the issue: BIOS 1.6.0 for Dell Pro 15 Essential PV15255 BIOS 1.7.0 for Dell 15 DC15255 BIOS 1.27.0 for Inspiron 15 3535, Vostro 14 3535, and Vostro 15 3535) To download and install the BIOS, refer to the BIOS Update Guide .
