Issue Dynamic sector recovery (DSR) failures are not indications of data corruption failures, but they can lead to data-loss. Sometimes DSR failures recover from data loss, which indicates that the recovery failure is only temporary. In these cases, support must find a way to get the data needed from the failed device. Symptoms A DSR failure alert looks similar to the following: 5242904 NEW 07230084S 851-0023-81 Node mycluster-11 (id24) : DSR repair attempt unsuccessful for inode(s) {} and/or block(s) { 10, 11, 1457725440:8192 } - EIO. The alert displays the node ID (10) , drive lnum (11), and the block address ( 1457725440:8192 ) of the error.
Cause The most common cause of DSR failures is that a disk or node experienced an Error Correcting Code (ECC) error. DSR failures also occur, and can be more serious, if two or more disks or nodes fail and FlexProtect attempts to redistribute data from failed devices.
