Observed Issue When Creating Schedules Creating more than ten schedules through the user interface fails. Affected Firmware Versions ME50XX - firmware version ME5.1.2.1.5 and earlier ME52XX - firmware version ME5.2.0.0.2 and earlier Failure Details The failure occurs when attempting to create the 11th schedule. An error message is displayed (see screenshot).
Issue Origin in WBI Task Counter Increment The inability to create more than ten schedules through the user interface is a flaw in the way the Web‑Based Interface (WBI) increments its internal task counter. When the 11th schedule is attempted, the counter exceeds its permitted range, triggering the user interface error. Observed on ME50XX firmware ME5.1.2.1.5 and ME52XX firmware ME5.2.0.0.2 (and earlier versions) The user interface displays an error message (as shown in the screenshot) when the task counter overflows. The underlying WBI code does not support task‑counter values beyond ten, causing schedule creation to fail.
CLI Workaround for Creating Schedules on ME50XX/ME52XX Overview When the user interface fails to create more than ten schedules on ME50XX or ME52XX platforms, use the command‑line interface (CLI) to add additional schedules. Step‑by‑Step Procedure Connect to the device using SSH, console, or Telnet with an account that has administrative privileges. Enter the configuration mode if required (for example, configure terminal ). Run the schedule creation command using the following syntax: Create schedule schedule-specification "" task-name. Replace with the wanted schedule definition, with the associated task, and with a unique name for the new schedule. Commit the configuration (if applicable) and exit configuration mode. Verify that the schedule was added successfully. Show schedule Verification Confirm that the newly created schedule appears in the schedule list and that its parameters match the intended configuration. Use the show schedule command to display details and ensure that no error messages are returned. Pay attention to the following The CLI bypasses user interface validation. Double‑check the schedule specification to avoid misconfiguration that could affect system tasks This workaround does not fix the underlying firmware limitation. The issue will persist until a future firmware release addresses it. Monitor Dell’s firmware release notes for the version that resolves this limitation. Update the device when the fix becomes available. If unsure about any steps, contact Dell Support before proceeding.
