Users may observe the following after upgrading to DDOS 8.5 or later: A mandatory pop-up prompting for customer contact information when accessing the GUI Inability to go to normal GUI pages until the form is completed Submission of the form fails with the error: Device not registered to SupportAssist. SupportAssist appears to be configured but did not require an access key and PIN during setup Error seen in Data Domain System Manager UI:
A manufacturing script defect (reference: PDD09I-702 ) incorrectly sets a registry key indicating that SupportAssist (ESE) initialization is complete, then stops the ESE daemon. As a result: SupportAssist appears configured without proper registration Required credentials (access key and PIN) are never collected The system sets the notification method to SupportAssist The GUI assumes valid configuration and enforces the contact information pop-up Because SupportAssist is not actually registered, the submission fails and the GUI remains blocked.
Workaround: Reset the support notification method to email using the CLI: support notification method set email After running the command: Open a new browser session Log in to the GUI again The system bypasses the contact information pop-up, restoring normal GUI access.
