The data wipe option is missing from the security page after booting a Precision 7875 tower with nine or more storage devices into the BIOS. This happens when the fixed workstation is configured with the following types of storage device: Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) Solid state drive (SSD) Hard Drive (HDD) Affected Platforms: Precision 7875 Tower
The BIOS limits the data wipe option to workstations with up to eight storage devices connected.
Workaround: Reduce the number of connected storage devices to eight or less. The BIOS re-enables the data wipe option once the number of connected storage device drops to eight. Long-Term Solution: Note: Before starting the update, perform the following: Back up all personal data. For more information, refer to: Back Up and Recovery Updating the Dell Precision 7875 BIOS to version 2.7.0.3 or later on the workstation resolves the issue. To download and install the Precision_7875_SHP_02.07.03.exe, refer to the: BIOS Update Guide
