vCenter fails at the ' SWITCHOVER ' Stage. From the SDDC UI, the following appears: Figure 1. These files include VM guest OS patch baselines, host upgrade baselines and files, and ESXi 6.5 and lower version host patches baselines. RDU requires double the capacity temporarily because both the source and target vCenter appliances run simultaneously. If the ESXi hosts or cluster do not have enough CPU, memory, or storage, the target appliance deployment will fail. When upgrading the vCenter, sometimes by selecting the vCenter Reduced Downtime Update , it does not allow the switchover to happen that quickly. It does not give enough time for the services to start, causing the vCenter upgrade to fail at this stage. Figure 2. Upgrade Mechanism
Log back into the SDDC and retry the upgrade using the second option vCenter Regular Upgrade : Figure 3. vCenter Regular Upgrade If the vCenter upgrade continues to fail, contact support for assistance.
