The Microsoft Hyper-V VSS writer may be in a failed state on the Hyper-V host server.
Perform the following steps to resolve the issue: Open the services.msc console and restart the Hyper-V Virtual Machine Management service on the Hyper-V host server: Verify that the Hyper-V writer is in a good state by running the following command in the Windows Command or PowerShell prompt: vssadmin list writers Re-run the Hyper-V virtual machine (VM) restore.
