An error message that says "USB device might need more power - Your PC might not provide enough power to the USB device. Please connect your device to external power, or try using a different PC." may be seen on a Dell Pro Max Premium. It may be seen intermittently when an external TBT 5 storage device and an external monitor are simultaneously connected to the Dell Pro Max Premium’s two TBT 5 ports. The external storage device is not detected when this error is seen. Affected Platforms: Dell Pro Max 14 Premium MA14250 Dell Pro Max 16 Premium MA16250
A BIOS code issue causes this behavior.
Note: Before starting the update, perform the following: Back up all personal data. For more information, refer to Back Up and Recovery . Connect the AC adapter. Updating the BIOS to version 1.3.0 or later on the computer resolves the issue. To download and install the BIOS, refer to the BIOS Update Guide .
