There is no issue with the eth0 interfaces on the Gen4T Avamar nodes. The "Unknown" status is expected if Dedicated Resource Monitoring and Control (RMC) Ports are configured on Gen4T. The previous Previous Avamar Hardware Generations (such as Gen4 and Gen4S) bonded Ethernet ports eth0 and eth2 as bond0: With the introduction of Gen4T, the hardware and network structure have changed and eth0 is no longer used to bond interfaces. It can now only be used only as Shared RMC Port for remote management. In Gen4T nodes, either Dedicated RMC Port or Shared RMC Port (eth0) can be configured. If a Dedicated RMC Port is configured, eth0 cannot be seen as it is not required. To confirm if Dedicated RMC Ports are configured, do the following: a. Log in to the Avamar Utility Node as admin. b. Elevate to root privilege. c. Load the root ssh keys per Avamar: How to Log in to an Avamar Server and Load Various Keys. d. Run the following command: mapall --user=root --all+ --noerror ipmitool lan print 4 | grep 'IP Address\|Subnet Mask\| Gateway' To review any Shared RMC port information, run the following command: mapall --user=root --all+ --noerror ipmitool lan print 1 | grep 'IP Address\|Subnet Mask\| Gateway'
Unless the eth0 interfaces "Unknown" and the node does not have a Dedicated RMC Port configured, no action is required. See the following articles for more information about configuring RMC on Gen4T nodes: Avamar: How to configure Remote Management Console on Gen4T nodesNetwork Configuration on Avamar ADS Gen4T If there are issues, and they cannot be resolved after reviewing the articles above, create a swarm with the Avamar SER team for assistance.
