Cause

The load_avg metric is sourced from the Linux /proc/loadavg file, which reports average system load over 1, 5, and 15 minutes, along with active task counts and the most recent Process ID (PID). Examples: admin@utility:~/>: cat /proc/loadavg 0.00 0.01 0.00 2/262 114867 The Avamar database enforces a maximumload_avgvalue of 999.9. Field reports indicate that some grids running Avamar 7.0, 7.0.1, and 7.1 record load averages in the 1100–1300 range during garbage collection. It is not yet confirmed whether the reported load values are inaccurate or if momentary system load actually exceeds the expected threshold.

Resolution

This behavior is considered benign and typically occurs only for a few minutes during heavy garbage‑collection cycles. The error is unlikely to appear more than once per day and does not indicate a functional failure. If additional investigation is required, contact Dell Product Support
