A code issue in VxRail Release 7.0.520 and 7.0.521 causes esxcli host commands to get stuck over time. The query in the logs returns: reason = 'Too many outstanding operations' This results in the LCM failure, the upgrade process fails to retrieve a VSAN configuration value through esxcli. Note: This issue is only seen on VxRail clusters on mentioned release versions with Secure Connect Gateway configured.
A permanent fix for this issue is in VxRail release 7.0.531. Release notes Dell VxRail 7.0.x Release Notes | Dell US (customer login required) Before restarting the VxRail LCM upgrade script, the user must restart the hostd management service on the failed node. /etc/init.d/hostd restart For guidance in restarting the ESXi hostd service, reference Broadcom article Restarting the Management agents in ESXi .
