The service LED on an XPS laptop may flash 1-amber 8-white after leaving the computer idle for around 10 minutes. The computer keeps working as usual. Affected Platforms: XPS 13 9340 XPS 14 9440 XPS 16 9640
This is due to the issue with the BIOS code.
Note: Before starting the update, perform the following: Back up all personal data. For more information, refer to Back Up and Recovery . Connect the AC adapter. Updating the BIOS to version 1.2.1 or later on XPS 13 9340 and XPS 14 9440, and 1.13.0 or later for XPS 16 9640 resolves the issue. To download and install the BIOS, refer to the BIOS Update Guide .
