Microsoft Application for SQL is upgraded from version 4.5 to 19.4, then to 19.8. Backups start to take longer than before. Whereas with version 4.5 of Microsoft APP Agent the backups took minutes, now they take hours.
Microsoft Application Agent - MSAPP agent - stores meta data (information about the backup itself) along with the data that is stored in DD Boost device Storage Unit (SU). This is due to architecture and feature changes in the Microsoft APP agent product, between versions 4.5 and 19.x. It is recommended to create a new Storage unit in Data Domain to be used for all future backups with the newest 19.x Version of Microsoft APP Agent. The old SU does not affect restores, but a new SU is recommended for future backups with the new version.
Create a new Data Domain Storage Unit and DD Boost device. Send all new Microsoft APP agent backups to new SU.
