VxRail precheck detects incompatible version of RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines, even though the RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines is updated with a compatible version. "Current RP4VM(RecoverPoint for Virtual Machine) is incompatible. Current version x.x.x.x. Expected version x.x.x.x. Pre-check of the update completed but an error was found. When looking at the VxRail debug log, you see below details under vCenter extensions: Figure 2: VxRail debug log details regarding extensions on vCenter. Looking at MOB, you find the below details under: Access MOB https://vCenterIP/mobClick on the following hyperlinks: Content > ExtensionManager > com.emc.recoverpoint.vwc > description Figure 3: vCenter MOB details regarding RecoverPoint old extension. NOTE: The error on VxRail upgrade prechecks may also be related to a nonupgraded RecoverPoint Plugin server. Click on the following hyperlinks: Content > ExtensionManager > com.dell.recoverpoint.vc.h5plugin > description Figure 4: Plugin details present in MOB From vCenter Client Plugins, you may see the same version details. Figure 5: vCenter Plug-in details showing a nonsupported RecoverPoint plug-in version for VxRail upgrade. The error message presented during VxRail upgrade prechecks can be related to: An old RecoverPoint Plugin or Extension registered with vCenter.The HMTL5 Plugin is not upgraded, therefore the version is lower than required for RecoverPoint 5.3.3.x
To resolve this issue: If the issue is related to: An old RecoverPoint Plugin or Extension being registered with vCenter: Access MOB https://vCenterIP/mobClick on the following hyperlinks: Content > ExtensionManager Select Unregister extensionEnter the Value com.emc.recoverpoint.vwc or com.dell.recoverpoint.vc.h5plugin in extensionKey Press Invoke MethodLogout from MOB The HMTL5 Plugin is not upgraded, therefore the version is lower than required for RecoverPoint 5.3.3.x: In the RecoverPoint for VMs HTML5 plug-in for vSphere Client, click System > AdministrationClick Actions > Upgrade plug-in serverSelect the upgrade Bundle for the Plugin and Upgrade Figure 6: Plugin server upgrade details NOTE: Sometimes, after upgrading the HTML5 Plugin server to the supported version, the MOB details may see the previous version. If so, you must Unregister extension from the MOB, see actions stated in resolution for "An old RecoverPoint Plugin or Extension being registered with vCenter."
