After a reboot or unexpected restart of the DPA datastore server, the DPA datastore service fails to start. [ERROR] Failed to start the datastore service after 10 seconds Command completed successfullyThe service was not able to start due to following error in logs: 2022-08-12 03:09:34.691 CDT [297842] FATAL: could not open lock file "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.9003.lock": Permission denied The .s.PGSQL.9003 and .s.PGSQL.9003.lock are hidden files that are created automatically when the datastore service is started and deleted with the service is stopped. These are normally created in the /tmp directory.
The DPA apollosuperuser account no longer had the permissions to delete and create a new lock file. Since DPA was unable to replace the .s.PGSQL.9003.lock file, it could not start the service. The permissions on the files should look like this: srwxrwxrwx 1 apollosuperuser users 0 Nov 17 11:42 .s.PGSQL.9003 -rw------- 1 apollosuperuser users 60 Nov 17 11:42 .s.PGSQL.9003.lock
Check the permissions on both .s.PGSQL.9003 and .s.PGSQL.9003.lock files in the tmp directory. The apollosuperuser account should have permissions on both. Delete the .s.PGSQL.9003.lock file or both files from the /tmp directory if the permissions are not correctly set. DPA datastore service should start successfully.
