The remote console (RMM, RMC, or iDRAC) login is successful, but the Keyboard Video Mouse (KVM) console cannot be launched.
Potential causes: An older Java version might have been installed. See Avamar: Gen4T Hardware: Unable to connect to a KVM using RMC interface as a reference. The root password includes a dot (.). (The KVM console does not work when the root password includes a dot (.)) Note: The default password is " calvin ".
1. Log in to the Avamar node as admin. 2. Elevate to root privilege. 3. Create a backup copy of the remote management interface: Gen4S ipmitool lan print 1 > /tmp/rmmlan1 ipmitool lan print 3 > /tmp/rmmlan3 Gen4T: ipmitool lan print 1 > /tmp/rmclan1 ipmitool lan print 4 > /tmp/rmclan4 Gen5A: ipmitool lan print 1 > /tmp/idraclan1 4. Reset the root account password, ensuring that the password does not contain a dot (.): ipmitool user set password 2 <new-password> 5. Verify that the console is now accessible.
